DISCO DAD3221

DISCO Dicing Saw DAD3221The DISCO DAD3221 is the successor to the DAD3220 within DISCO’s lineup of compact dicing saws. It is a semi-automatic, single-spindle dicing saw designed to offer superior efficiency and ease of use for 6-inch workpieces, all while maintaining the smallest footprint in the world.

Its primary selling point remains its exceptional space efficiency; with a width of 490 mm and a depth of 870 mm, it was recognized as the dicing saw with the smallest global footprint at the time of its release. In terms of processing capacity, it supports standard 6-inch (Φ6") workpieces, with the option to accommodate 150 mm × 150 mm square workpieces through custom configurations.

Significant gains in efficiency have been achieved through upgrades to the underlying drive and communication systems. The X, Y, and Z axes are now equipped with servo motors, with optimized axis speeds and acceleration/deceleration profiles. Combined with high-speed communication protocols, these enhancements result in a reduction of cutting time by approximately 5% compared to the previous model. An optional new Non-Contact Setting (NCS) system reduces the time required for blade height measurement by 74%, effectively minimizing non-cutting auxiliary time.

The machine comes standard with a 2.0 kW high-torque spindle (40,000 min⁻¹, rated torque 0.48 N·m), while an optional 1.8 kW high-speed spindle is available, increasing the maximum rotational speed to 60,000 min⁻¹. Regarding precision, the Y-axis indexing accuracy is 0.005/160 (with a single-point error of 0.003/5), and the Z-axis repeatability is 0.001 mm. Features such as automatic calibration, autofocus, and automatic kerf inspection are included as standard, and the XIS interface integrates operation controls directly into the microscope display, further lowering the barrier to operation. For production lines requiring standard 6-inch dicing operations within limited cleanroom space, the DAD3221 builds upon the compact footprint of the DAD3220 by incorporating key enhancements in servo-control and efficiency.
