Within DISCO’s compact product lineup, it occupies a distinct position compared to the contemporaneous DAD3220 model: rather than prioritizing the smallest possible footprint, it utilizes internal space to offer superior expandability—specifically, a high capacity for custom modifications. It was officially marketed as a model well-suited for processing materials used in electronic components, such as glass and ceramics.
In terms of core specifications, the machine supports 6-inch (Φ6") workpieces as standard, with options for custom configurations to accommodate 6-inch square or even 220 mm × 160 mm rectangular workpieces. The X-axis cutting range is 160 mm (expandable to 220 mm as an option), the Y-axis positioning accuracy is 0.005 mm/160 mm (with a single-point error of 0.003 mm/5 mm), and the Z-axis repeatability is 0.001 mm. It features a 1.5 kW spindle (operating at 3,000–40,000 min⁻¹ with a rated torque of 0.48 N·m), equipped with a standard spindle-locking mechanism to facilitate blade changes; a low-thermal-expansion spindle is also available as an option to minimize the effects of thermal drift.
Functionally, the unit comes standard with automatic calibration, autofocus, and automatic kerf detection, while a touchscreen interface simplifies operation. A practical example of its expandability is that the DAD3230 can house both a transformer and a UPS internally—a configuration not possible in the more compact DAD3220, which can accommodate only one of the two.
