The DISCO DAD3241 is a single-spindle, semi-automatic dicing saw designed for Φ8-inch (200 mm) workpieces. Within DISCO’s product lineup, it serves as a standard solution for 8-inch processing, offering a balance of efficiency and ease of use—all housed within an exceptionally compact footprint.
Its most notable feature is its ability to accommodate 8-inch workpieces while maintaining a machine width of only 650 mm, making it one of the most space-efficient dicing saws in its class. Efficiency is significantly enhanced through the implementation of fully servo-driven axes: the X-axis speed has been increased from 600 mm/s (in the DAD3240 model) to 800 mm/s, and the Y-axis speed from 170 mm/s to 200 mm/s. Furthermore, the inclusion of a standard Y-axis linear scale ensures an indexing positioning accuracy of 0.002 mm/210 mm (with a single-point error of 0.002 mm/5 mm). The new Non-Contact Setting (NCS) system reduces blade-height measurement time by 74%, effectively minimizing non-cutting auxiliary time.
The machine is equipped with a 1.8 kW high-torque spindle (operating between 6,000 and 60,000 min⁻¹ with a rated torque of 0.29 N·m), capable of processing a wide range of materials, from silicon to challenging-to-cut ceramics. With an optional JIG stage, it can also accommodate square workpieces up to 8×8 inches. The system features the XIS (eXtended Interface System) user interface, which integrates operation controls directly into the microscope display. It also comes standard with wafer mapping, a log viewer, and a help viewer, lowering the barrier for manual operation. For applications requiring routine 8-inch dicing within limited space—without compromising on efficiency—the DAD3241 offers a pragmatic balance between compactness and processing capability.
