K&S OptoLux™

K&S OptoLux is a high-speed, automatic ball bonder developed by Kulicke & Soffa specifically for the LED packaging market; it was officially launched at SEMICON China in 2018. Positioned as a benchmark for efficiency in LED wire bonding, the system’s core advantages are its ease of use and high throughput. It features the "Quick-LED Suite"—a pre-configured process package that automatically generates initial parameters based on application-specific data, significantly lowering the barrier for setup and optimization. Hardware-wise, it incorporates a high-speed XYZ motion system, WAVI (Wide-Angle Vertical Illumination) technology, and advanced vision capabilities, which effectively mitigate reflection interference from silver-plated lead frames. The system supports gold, silver-alloy, and copper wires (the latter requiring a micro-environment kit). It offers a bonding area of 56 × 80 mm and an accuracy of ±3 μm (@ 3σ), making it well-suited for the high-volume production of SMD LEDs and optoelectronic devices.
