The ASM NEON is an ultra-precision, fully automatic thermosonic wire bonder, officially positioned as the "most compact, high-productivity" machine in its class. Part of ASMPT’s wire bonding equipment portfolio, it was showcased at the 2024 China International Import Expo (CIIE).

According to specifications disclosed by distributors, the NEON offers a bonding accuracy of 3.0 µm @ 3 Sigma, an image recognition accuracy of ±0.37 µm, and a resolution of 40 nm (XY-axis) / 48 nm (Z-axis). It features a nominal bonding speed of 40 ms per wire, a bonding area of 56 mm × 70 mm, and supports wire lengths ranging from 0.3 mm to 7 mm, with a capacity of up to 10,000 wires per program. The standard transducer frequency is 138 kHz, and copper wire bonding can be enabled via an optional conversion kit.

Designed to balance a compact footprint with high productivity, the NEON is equipped with an intelligent pattern recognition (PR) system and supports Industry 4.0 connectivity and remote operation. Product changeover times are under 4 minutes for the same lead frame type and under 5 minutes when switching between different lead frame types. Given its specifications, the NEON is tailored for packaging production lines that demand both high precision and space efficiency.
